Judith Jacobi has a B.S. degree in pharmacy from Purdue University and a PharmD from the University of Minnesota.
Currently a part of the multiprofessional ICU team as a critical care pharmacist, she has worked for more than 15 years at Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital and contributed to the growth of its critical care pharmacy services from a single specialist to a team of six critical care specialists who work in conjunction with the generalist pharmacists to meet the pharmaceutical needs of an extremely vulnerable population requiring sophisticated care. She also serves as preceptor for numerous Doctor of Pharmacy students.
She is a founding member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine's Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology Section. As her experience within the organization grew, she had the opportunity to hold numerous leadership positions including one year as President-Elect before serving as President in 2010, and now as Past-President. She was the first pharmacist to lead the 15,000 member multiprofessional organization. As President of SCCM, Jacobi had the opportunity to travel around the world, meet many practitioners, and promote the role of the pharmacist in critical care.
She was recognized by ACCP in 2006 with the Clinical Practice Award, given annually to a member with outstanding contributions to clinical pharmacy and was awarded Fellowship in 1999.
