Dear alumni and friends,

Despite the many challenges facing our world, spring still returns, and with it new beginnings and reasons for joy.

We are looking forward to celebrating the new beginnings of our 2022 graduates with commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 14. We’re excited to be able to host this event largely in-person with options for livestream viewing if that works better for individuals.

In addition, this spring has us looking at a horizon of new opportunities for our college. We are excited by the University’s request for legislative funding that would support the design phase for a new academic health center facility located in the Duluth Medical District. We are also happy to share that the Center for Allied Health Programs which includes occupational therapy and medical laboratory sciences will join the College of Pharmacy. These initiatives reaffirm our commitment to interprofessional education and practice, and offer many new opportunities for collaborations. You’ll learn a bit more about each of these initiatives in this issue of The Record and through many more communication streams in the months to come.

The college is also preparing a new way to engage with you, our alumni and friends. Later this year, you’ll learn more about our MNovationRx initiatives. The goal will be to highlight our organizational innovation and areas of distinction while giving you opportunities to engage with us to advance these efforts. Watch for more information, coming soon!

As we prepare to close another academic year, send a new class into the world to make a difference, and look forward to many new possibilities, let me end with a thank you. Your ongoing support of our students and the college ensure that we are ever-working toward fulfilling our mission.

With gratitude,
