Welcome from the Director
We have embraced a year of change as we incorporated the new harmonized accreditation standards. ASHP has combined PGY1 standards for managed care, community-based, and pharmacy. Our preceptors and recruitment committee did a great job working through the various changes and making programmatic recommendations. Some of the new standards were more challenging, such as the time away requirements, but we were excited to assess how our program could be more inclusive in our recruitment and admission efforts. Specifically, we implemented implicit bias training for interviewers, increased our virtual recruitment efforts, and reassessed our rubrics to ensure a more holistic review. We have enjoyed our many recruitment events, including the collaboration of a new event focused on rural residency opportunities across the country!!
We are also extremely excited to celebrate our 25th graduating class in June. Our program has a proud legacy of training over 340 pharmacists and we cannot wait to celebrate together this milestone. We have a great evening celebration planned for September 2024, and we hope to see our whole residency family.
In closing, we have had another great year. I am continually grateful for our administration team (Amy Pavelka, Jody Lounsbery, Stephanie Swanson, student worker Maybelle Newcombe), site coordinators, preceptors, alumni, and of course our residents!
Sincerely,
