April 11, 2024
Dr. Dan Harki, Northrop Professor and director of graduate studies in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry, has been named the Margaret Harvey Schering Land Grant Chair for Cancer Research by the Masonic Cancer Center (MCC).
The endowed chair is being awarded for Dr. Harki’s invaluable contributions to studies of the design of small molecules targeting the APOBEC3B cytosine deaminase, a cancer and antiviral target. These contributions have been made possible by his leadership in a multidisciplinary program project grant focused on this mechanism.
In addition, Dr. Harki has played a significant leadership role in the MCC as the co-leader of the Cellular Mechanisms Program and a member of the MCC Science Council since 2009.
