Dr. Gunda Georg was awarded the 2023 Carl Mannich Medal by the Deutsche Pharmazeutische Gesellschaft e.V. (DPhG) (German Pharmaceutical Society) earlier this month.

The Carl Mannich Medal is the DPhG’s award for domestic and foreign scholars on the basis of outstanding achievements in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. The medal commemorates the former president, the university lecturer Carl Mannich (1877–1947) and has been awarded since 1961.

In their recognition of Dr. Georg, the DPhG notes, “Prof. Georg is particularly known for her outstanding work in the field of medicinal chemistry, such as the development of cytostatics, active ingredients against Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy and infections and, more recently, non-hormonal contraception for men and women.”
