Admissions

In addition to the Graduate School application and the departmental supplemental applications (PDF), three letters of recommendation are required by the department. The three letters of recommendation should be from people who can reflect on the applicant's academic work or professional experiences. Recommendation letters must include the full name of the student, and the full name, address and telephone number of the person providing the recommendation. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency. Please refer to the Graduate School’s English Language Proficiency page for a full list of methods to demonstrate English language proficiency.

The Graduate School prefers an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) for admission. Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency.

• Unofficial transcripts from each college or university you have attended, including the University of Minnesota
• Supplementary application form
• Three letters of recommendation
• Official test scores: English language proficiency test is required for international applicants: TOEFL, IELTS, or MELAB. The GRE is optional.

Application to the Graduate School and the SAPh program are completed online at the Graduate School website. There is a required application fee.

Instructions for Completing Supplemental Form
Complete the form from within your web browser and Upload to in the Graduate School ApplyYourself: You must complete and print the entire document before logging out of Adobe Acrobat. You cannot save an incomplete form. If you log out before the form is completed, you will lose your work. To print the form, be sure that the cursor has been clicked outside the text boxes. The information you've entered on the form may not print if the cursor is activated inside any text box.

Graduate assistantships, fellowships and loans are the primary sources of support for graduate study. A limited number of assistantships and fellowships are available in Social and Administrative Pharmacy. Financial Aid decisions are made once a student has been admitted to the program. Students who obtain a graduate assistantship of at least 25 percent can receive a tuition benefit (and health insurance) equal to twice the percentage of their appointment in the semester of the appointment.

Applications for assistantships and fellowships are made through the department office. For additional information on Financial Aid, the University operates an Office of Student Finance.

The University is in a large metropolitan area with adequate housing available for both married and single graduate students.
